Little In My Hands, Plenty In His

Small gifts in our hands, abundance in His.

We watch the scene in Matthew 14, five loaves, two fish, a hillside full of hungry people, and hear Jesus say, Bring them to Me. Witness Lee reminds us that what sits in our hands looks small, but once it passes into His hands, it becomes blessing that runs beyond us. That is not a call to strain. It is an invitation to entrust.

The heart of today’s reading is simple. Offer what you have, even if it seems poor or ordinary. When kept for self, it remains small. When yielded to the Lord, it feeds more than you can count, and you will still gather baskets of grace afterward. This is how grace works. It shows us our lack without shaming us, then lets Jesus multiply what we place with Him.

I am grateful for the clarity of Witness Lee’s words here. They lift our eyes from the size of our resources to the sufficiency of Jesus. They steady us in the truth that the Lord delights to work through yielded people. He does not ask you to be impressive. He asks you to trust Him with what is in your hands.

So we come as fellow travelers. You bring your minutes, your words, your willingness. I bring mine. We set them in the hands of the Lord, then watch Him bless, break, and give through us. This is the life of abiding in Christ. He is the source. We are the channels. And many are fed.

Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

I dwell in you, and I am your life. You were crucified with Jesus, and now you live, yet it is Jesus who lives in you. Your old master lost its claim. Consider yourself dead to sin and alive to God, for I am at work in you, both to will and to work for My good pleasure.

Bring what you have to Me. Place your time, your words, your small courage into My hands. I am able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things and at all times you have all you need and overflow in every good work. Christ in you is the hope of glory, not a thin wish, but My present power. When you serve, serve by the strength that I supply. When you speak, let it be as one who speaks the very words that I give.

Abide in Me. Remain in the Vine, and you will bear much fruit. Apart from Me you can do nothing. In Me, your little is not little. I do far more abundantly than all you ask or imagine, according to My power at work within you. Present your body to Me, not as a payment, but as a living and holy offering that I Myself empower and complete. The God of peace equips you in every good thing to do His will, working in you what is pleasing in His sight. My grace is sufficient for you. My power rests on weakness, and My multiplying hands never fail.

Real-Life Analogy

Think of bringing a small bag of rice to a neighborhood cookout. On its own it would feed only a few. You hand it to the friend at the stove, and he folds it into a big pot with broth, vegetables, and herbs. Steam rises. The fragrance fills the kitchen. Bowls circle the table. Your little portion becomes part of a meal that satisfies everyone, and there is more left to share.

Here is how that looks today. A coworker texts that she is overwhelmed. You only have ten minutes and simple words. Rather than trying to manage the moment by willpower, you entrust it to the indwelling Spirit of Jesus. Quietly in your heart you say, Lord, I yield these minutes to You. Speak Your kindness through me now. You call, you listen, you offer one steady sentence that He supplies. Peace meets her where she is. You hang up and notice there is still calm in you, and somehow there is time for the next task as well.

Prayer of Confidence

Lord, thank You that in Jesus I lack nothing I truly need. Thank You that my life is now hidden with Christ in You, and that Your Spirit lives in me as my sufficiency. I gladly place what is in my hands into Yours, my time, my words, my energy, my plans. You multiply what You receive, and You include me in the blessing. Today I rest in Your abundance, I walk in Your supply, and I rejoice that You complete what You begin.
