Jesus, the Fulfillment of the Law
The law exposed every flaw, but Jesus writes His perfect life upon our hearts.

Witness Lee reminds us that Jesus did not come to cancel or lower the law of God but to fulfill it in Himself. The law given through Moses was good and holy, yet it was incomplete. For instance, the law forbade murder, but it did not address the anger in the heart that leads to murder. The law forbade adultery, but it did not reach the lustful glance that precedes the act. Jesus, the new King, lifts the standard higher. He takes the law beyond outward actions and reveals its true intent in the heart.
This shows us that the law of the kingdom of the heavens is deeper, fuller, and more demanding than the law of Moses. It penetrates beyond behavior into motives and desires. Yet it is not meant to crush us under impossible weight. Instead, it points us to Jesus, the only One who has ever perfectly fulfilled the law in thought, word, and deed. What was incomplete in the old covenant is complete in Him.
For us as believers, the law’s demands do not drive us into despair but into dependence. In our union with Jesus, His righteousness is ours. His fulfillment of the law is credited to us, and His life within us expresses the higher way that the law of Moses could never produce. We are not bound by fear of condemnation but freed to walk in the Spirit, who empowers us to live the life of Jesus from the inside out.
This is why Jesus could say, “I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill.” In Him, the higher demands of the kingdom are not burdens we strive to carry. They are realities expressed through His indwelling life. What was once beyond us is now within us, because Jesus Himself is our life.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
My child, I have not left you under the weight of an impossible law. In Jesus, every command finds its completion. The law showed what righteousness looked like, but in Him you are made righteous. What once condemned you now points you to the One who fulfilled every requirement perfectly.
Do not look to your ability to keep rules. Look to the life of Jesus within you. He is the One who frees you from anger, for His peace rules your heart. He is the One who delivers you from lust, for His purity dwells in you. He is the One who satisfies every demand of holiness, for you are united with Him in spirit.
The kingdom life is not your striving to measure up, but My Son expressing His life through you. Rest in this union. Yield to His Spirit. Trust that in Him you already stand complete.

Real-Life Analogy
Imagine using a pencil with no eraser. Every mistake you make stays on the page, no matter how carefully you write. Then someone places in your hand a pen that writes cleanly and permanently. The old pencil showed you every flaw, but the new pen allows you to write without fear. The law was like the pencil, exposing sin but never removing it. Jesus is like the pen, perfect and complete, writing His life on the page of your heart.
Today, when I feel tempted to measure myself by rules or failures, I can quietly rest and say, “Lord, I trust You to live Your life through me in this very moment.” That keeps my eyes on Him rather than on my shortcomings, and it allows His fulfillment to flow through me.
Prayer of Confidence
Lord, I thank You that You did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. What I could never accomplish in my own effort, You have accomplished fully. I rejoice that in union with You, I am not bound to condemnation but free to live in Your righteousness. I rest today in Your indwelling life, knowing that every demand of holiness is already satisfied in You.
