Humbled Hearts, Open Doors of Grace
Open hands, ready supply, grace meets humility.

Grace is not a prize for spiritual achievers, it is the gift Jesus supplies to those who come low and lean hard. Bob Hoekstra points us there with clarity and kindness. He reminds us that God gladly pours grace into humble, trusting hearts, and He does so because our adequacy rests in Him, not in our self effort. When we try to carry the Christian life by our own power, we stall. When we agree with God about our limits and rely on His sufficiency, we stand firm in the grace we already have in Christ.
This is not a message for spiritual elites, it is for the family of God together. In Jesus we, as His people, already have access into grace. We are not trying to earn a private pipeline, we are stepping by faith into what the Lord opened for His body. Hoekstra keeps pointing our eyes back to Jesus Himself, not to a checklist. Humility says, I cannot be my own source. Faith says, Lord, You are my source, live Your life through me.
Think about the relief this brings to everyday life. The pressure eases when we stop proving ourselves and start depending on the One who lives in us. The New Covenant life is not gritting our teeth, it is abiding in the One who is more than sufficient. Where pride resists, grace is resisted. Where we bow and trust, grace abounds.
So today we are invited to a simple posture. Come low before the Lord, agree with His assessment of our weakness, and welcome His action within us. Then take the next step trusting Jesus to express His life through you. That is where growth happens, steady and real, as we walk by faith in the grace in which we stand.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I am with you, and I lift those who bow their hearts. I set Myself against pride, yet I give overflowing grace to the humble. You do not need to manufacture sufficiency, your sufficiency is from God. Apart from Me you can do nothing that bears the fruit of life, yet as you remain in Me, much fruit comes.
I have already brought you into a standing of grace through Jesus. In Him you have access by faith into all that you need for this moment. Walk in Me as you first received Me, by trusting dependence, rooted and built up in the Son. When you meet your limits, do not fear. Agree with My truth about your need, then lean on My adequacy. I work in you to will and to do what pleases the Father.
Let your heart be clothed with humility. Cast your cares upon Me. Draw near to the throne of grace with confidence, for mercy and timely grace are already yours in Christ. The grace of God trains you, it teaches you to say no to ungodliness and to live self controlled, upright, godly in this present age, not by strain, but by My life at work within you. Receive what I provide, and step forward. I will complete what I begin.

Real Life Analogy
Think of the motion sensor faucet in a public sink. Water is ready, but it does not respond to frantic twisting or a hard grip. It turns on when you bring empty hands under the sensor. Humility is like those open hands, faith is the placement under the source. The supply is not in your hands, it is in the faucet, and it runs freely when you take the receptive posture.
Try this today during a tense conversation at work or home. Before you speak, pause and whisper in your heart, Lord, I trust You, express Your patience and clarity within me right now. Then speak simply and honestly. You are not trying to perform, you are yielding to Jesus within you, and His grace supplies what the moment requires.
Prayer of Confidence
Lord, thank You that in Jesus I already stand in grace. Thank You that my adequacy is from You, not from my own effort. I agree with You about my limits, and I rejoice that Your life in me is more than sufficient. I receive Your gracious working in this moment, and I walk forward resting in Your presence and provision. All glory to You for every good thing You bring through my life.
