Today’s devotional from Witness Lee takes us to a pivotal truth found in Acts 2:36—Jesus, the man who was crucified, has been made bothLord and Christ. Though He was always divine, eternally existing as God, something new happened in His resurrection and ascension. The eternal Son became the glorified Man who now holds the office of both supreme Possessor (Lord) and commissioned Savior (Christ).
He didn’t become Lord and Christ in His divinity—He already was—but in His humanity, He was officially enthroned and inaugurated. As Lord, He now possesses all. As Christ, He now carries out God’s redemptive and kingdom purpose. This isn’t mere theology—it’s the breathtaking culmination of God's plan to unite heaven and earth in Christ, to lift up humanity in the Son, and to place our lives under the care of the One who holds both power and purpose.
What does this mean for us? That the risen Jesus isn’t merely someone to admire or remember—He is the reigning Lord who owns us and the anointed Christ who is actively carrying out God's work. We are not our own; we are joyfully His.
✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I have made Him both Lord and Christ—not only because He is My eternal Son, but because He obeyed Me unto death and trusted Me through resurrection. In His ascension, I exalted the man Jesus to My right hand and gave Him the name above every name. As Lord, He possesses all things, and as Christ, He carries out all that I have willed.
You are no longer your own. You belong to the One who purchased you with His blood and was raised in glory. His lordship is not tyranny—it is your refuge. His commission is not distant—it includes you. He does not demand from afar; He indwells to accomplish through you.
Do not separate what I have made one. Jesus is not merely your Savior in times of trouble or your example to follow. He is your indwelling Lord and your ever-working Christ. He holds authority over your days and supplies grace for your walk. You live under His possession and within His commission.
Rest in the truth that you are held, led, and loved by the One who now sits enthroned in glory—once crucified, now crowned. His humanity brought you near. His lordship secures you. His commission draws you into My eternal purpose.

🗝️ Real-Life Analogy
It’s like giving someone the keys and the title to your house. Before, they may have visited, helped out, even fixed a few things. But now, the house belongs to them—they possess it and manage it. You’re no longer the owner. And strangely, instead of fear, you feel peace—because the one who now owns it knows exactly how to care for it better than you ever could. That’s what it means for Jesus to be made both Lord and Christ of your life.
🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You for exalting Jesus—not just in heaven, but in my heart. I rejoice that He is both Lord and Christ, and I am under His loving possession and perfect commission. I rest in His authority, I trust His reign, and I delight to be His. Thank You that I do not walk alone or strive on my own. I am held by the One who was crucified for me and now lives through me. Amen.
