His Ascension and Our Union

Through Christ’s ascension, the door to heaven remains wide open — and we are seated with Him there.

Oswald Chambers calls us to behold the majestic and mysterious transition that began at Christ’s transfiguration and culminated in His ascension. Before that moment on the mountain, Jesus walked among us in ways we could grasp — touching, teaching, sleeping, eating — fully human, though sinless. But from the transfiguration onward, He stepped into realms that our earthly minds strain to comprehend: agony in Gethsemane, death on the cross, victorious resurrection, and finally, the triumphant return to glory.

The ascension is not a spiritual footnote — it is the divine seal on the entire redemptive work of Christ. Had He ascended right after the transfiguration, He would have done so alone, as the radiant Son of God. But instead, He chose to return to the valley, bear the cross, and redeem us. Now, as the ascended Son of Man, glorified and enthroned, He has opened heaven for us. He reigns not only as divine but also as One who still bears humanity — the firstborn among many brethren, welcoming us into union with Himself.

We don’t just admire His ascension; we participate in it. Because we are united with Him, we too are seated with Him in the heavenly realms. The door that He entered through has remained open, not only because He left it ajar — but because He now dwells in us, and we in Him.

Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit

You are not merely watching from below as Christ ascends; you are included in Him. The One who returned to glory did not go alone. I placed you in Him — crucified with Him, raised with Him, and now seated with Him far above all rule and authority. The ascension is not just His journey; it is yours by union.

Let your eyes look beyond the veil of circumstance. Though your feet tread earth, your spirit abides in the heavenlies. I have joined you inseparably to the glorified Son. You lack no access, no approval, no invitation — for in Christ, you already dwell where He is. You are not striving to enter; you are called to live from where you already are.

As He reigns, so you reign — not by your might or merit, but by My grace. His life is your life. His seat is your seat. And His presence in you is the seal that this ascension is not only true for Him but true for you. Walk today not as one reaching, but as one already received.

Real-Life Analogy

It’s like receiving a permanent all-access badge to a building that once seemed off-limits. You used to stand outside the glass doors, waiting for someone to let you in. But now, the badge is yours — not borrowed, not temporary. The security doors recognize your presence and open without hesitation, because your identity is already confirmed.

Prayer of Confidence

Father, I thank You that in Christ, I’m not looking up from the outside — I’m seated with Him inside. The throne room is not a place I must enter by striving, but the home I live from in rest. I praise You that the Son of Man did not ascend alone but brought me with Him. Because of Your unchanging love and the finished work of Christ, I live each day from a place of victory, not for it. My soul finds its joy in this union — hidden in Him, secure in You, forever welcomed in glory.
