Today’s reflection from A.B. Simpson invites us to reconsider what it means to live righteously—not by striving to fulfill the law ourselves, but by allowing the indwelling Christ to fulfill it in us. Simpson highlights a common mistake: believing that since perfection is impossible, pursuing godliness is futile. But the exchanged life does not call us to try harder—it calls us to trust deeper.
God’s provision is not only forgiveness but transformation. His righteousness is not a standard we reach for with effort—it’s a Person who resides in us, expressing Himself through our thoughts, desires, and instincts. The Spirit of Christ doesn’t ask for performance; He provides participation in His divine nature. When we walk according to the Spirit, the righteous requirements of the law are not achieved by us—they are fulfilled in us.
This is the miracle of Romans 8:4. Christ becomes our purity. Christ becomes our obedience. Christ becomes our life. We no longer strive to behave righteously—we yield to the Righteous One within, who expresses His life through ours.
✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I do not ask you to perform righteousness. I AM your righteousness.
The law you once feared is no longer your judge—it has been fulfilled in My Son and now finds its expression in you, not by effort, but by union. When you walk by the Spirit, you are not climbing toward Me—I am moving through you. My life in you replaces your striving with peace, your reaction with compassion, your impulse with holiness.
My desire is not that you imitate Christ, but that you participate in Him. I have joined you to His life. His mind becomes your mindset. His heart pulses through your affections. His purity now radiates through your being—not as something to achieve, but as Someone you contain.
Let your “yes” to Me be your confidence today. You are not improving the flesh. You are not perfecting your old nature. You are living from the new—where Christ is all, and in all. The righteous requirement of the law is not a burden I place on you. It is a beauty I express through you.
Let Me be your life, and you will find that righteousness is no longer something you pursue—it is Someone you know.

🔑 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like setting a thermostat in your home. You don’t manually adjust the temperature every moment; the system within the walls carries out what has already been set. In the same way, when Christ lives in you, He regulates the atmosphere of your soul. You’re no longer reacting to every external demand—His life within governs your responses with divine consistency.
🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence
Father, I thank You that I am not left to try to fulfill the law through effort. In Christ, You have already fulfilled it in me. Your Spirit now expresses the righteousness I could never attain. I rejoice that it is no longer about what I must do, but about what You are doing as I walk in the Spirit. Thank You for making me a partaker of the divine nature. I rest in the truth that Christ is my life, and that righteousness flows from Him through me today.
