Eyes On Jesus, Not On My Faith

Hebrews 12:2 calls me to fix my eyes on Jesus who endured the cross and now sits at the right hand of God. Today’s reading in His Victorious Indwelling urges me to look away from my own faith and to look to the Living One Himself. When I stare at my faith, I grow anxious and start measuring. When I look to Jesus, the heart quiets and trust becomes simple again. Thank you, Nick Harrison, for curating a gentle reminder that faith is most healthy when it is least self-aware and most Christ-aware.

This is freeing. Faith is not the savior. Jesus saves. My gaze does not need to circle around my inner temperature. It can rest on the One who loved me and gave Himself for me. The more my attention centers on Him, the more life flows without strain.

So, instead of scanning my faith all day, I lift my eyes. I remember who He is and where He is. I remember that I am in Him, and He is in me. That is where peace stays steady and obedience becomes practical.

Today I want to walk with that simple focus. Look away from yourself. Look unto Jesus. He is enough, and He is near.

Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I turn your eyes to Jesus. He is the author and finisher of your faith. He endured the cross for the joy set before Him and He is seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above where He is. Consider Him so that you do not grow weary or lose heart.

I remind you that you are in Christ and Christ is in you. You died with Him and you live to God in Him. I pour the love of God into your heart. I keep in perfect peace the mind that is stayed on Me. Look not to what is seen, but to what is unseen. As you behold the Lord, you are transformed from one degree of glory to another.

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Present your body as a living sacrifice. Walk by the Spirit. Hold fast the confession of your hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Fix your thoughts on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable. I am at work in you to will and to act for My good pleasure.

Real-Life Analogy
Think about using the camera on a phone. When the background distracts, you tap the screen and the lens snaps to the subject. The image clears without wrestling. In the same way, when you place your attention on Jesus, the Holy Spirit within brings His peace and steadies your steps. You are not managing yourself with rules. You are letting the Lord express His life through you as the focus settles on Him.

Try this today. Before a decision or a tense conversation, pause and tap to focus, so to speak. Look to where Jesus is and say, Lord, I trust You to keep my eyes on You and to love through me in this exchange. Then walk in with a calm heart, ready to answer with patience and truth.

Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that Jesus is the author and finisher of my faith. Thank You that my life is hidden with Him and that Your Spirit dwells in me. I receive this day as a gift. I set my eyes on Your Son. I present my words, work, and relationships to You. Your peace guards my heart, and Your grace supplies what each moment requires. Lord, I trust You to live Your life in me and through me today.
