Enjoy the Refreshing by Calling on the Lord — Part 2
A quiet stream reminds us that joy flows from drawing upon the Lord, not from escaping difficulty.

The heart of today’s reflection by Witness Lee is simple yet powerful: refreshing doesn’t come from relief in circumstances—it flows from rejoicing in the presence of the Lord. Isaiah points to this refreshment using the image of drawing water from the wells of salvation. It’s not a casual or silent drawing; it's done with joy, even with a strong, audible call upon the Lord’s name.
The example shared is relatable—a brother weighed down by real concerns: a hospitalized spouse, a struggling child, and job loss in the family. But instead of retreating into anxiety or internal despair, he calls out: “Lord Jesus!” Not to inform God of what He already knows, but to draw near to Him with confidence in His sovereignty, love, and nearness.
The original Greek word for “call” means more than just whispering—it involves calling upon the name of the Lord audibly and intentionally. Whether in anguish or delight, this active calling brings a tangible sense of God’s presence, a season of refreshing. This isn’t just biblical—it’s experiential. Joy and refreshment rise not from what changes around us but from whom we are drawing upon within us.
✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
Call on Me—not because I am far, but because I am near. I dwell within you, and My name is your doorway to joy. As you lift your voice to Me, you’re not trying to summon Me from a distance. You are drawing deeply from the well of salvation already placed in your spirit.
When your thoughts swirl with trouble and your heart weighs heavy with concern, open your mouth and say My name: Lord Jesus. In doing so, you shift your gaze from the storm to the Source of peace. I do not ignore your burdens, but I carry them with you. And I offer Myself as the drink that refreshes your soul.
Let the sound of My name rise from your lips—not with despair, but with trust. Even when tears accompany your calling, let your voice declare My goodness. For every utterance of My name is a declaration that I am enough for this moment. The refreshing comes not from your strength but from your drawing. And you draw by rejoicing.
You were not made to stay dry. You were made to overflow with joy. I am your salvation, your rejoicing, your song in the night. Call on Me—not as a beggar but as one beloved and indwelt. Rejoice always, again I say, rejoice.

🧺 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like stepping outside on a humid summer day and feeling parched, only to realize you’ve been holding a chilled bottle of water the entire time. You don’t need to search or buy—it’s already yours. The only thing left is to unscrew the cap and take a drink. Calling on the Lord is just like that—it opens the flow of refreshment already within you.
🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence
Father, I thank You that the well of salvation is already mine. You’ve placed within me a spring that never runs dry. I don’t need to earn refreshment—I only need to draw upon the name of Jesus. Today, I rejoice in You—not because life is easy, but because You are with me in all things. Your presence is my peace, and Your name is my joy.
