Come Away For A Little While
A small table in soft morning light, a quiet place to come away with Jesus for a little while.

Mark 6 shows Jesus inviting tired friends to step aside with Him to a quiet place for a short rest. That scene is tender. It feels like a hand on the shoulder and a kind voice saying, pause with Me. Today’s reading from A. B. Simpson points me back to that simple invitation. Growth is not a race of frantic activity. It is the fruit of staying close to Jesus, letting the Holy Spirit be the source across an ordinary day.
I notice how easy it is to skim the surface of life. Messages ping, errands multiply, and our heart starts to run ahead. Simpson’s reminder is gentle. Do not hurry past the One who is your life. Linger with the Lord, not to earn anything, but to receive what He loves to give, peace that guards, guidance that is timely, love that is ready to pour out.
This is not about long heroic sessions that only a few can manage. It is a way of living with Jesus, aware of His presence in the middle of real work and real conversations. The abiding life is not complicated. It is trusting the Holy Spirit within to carry you, moment by moment, by His grace as you yield to Him.
So I am grateful for this nudge to step aside with the Lord today. A few unhurried pauses with Him change the tone of everything else.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I draw you to a quiet place with your Lord. Come with Me and rest for a little while. I give rest to the weary and I place you beside still waters. I lead you gently and I give peace that stands guard over your heart and mind.
Set your mind on things above where Christ is. Abide in Me and bear fruit that lasts. In returning and rest you find quiet strength. There remains a rest for the people of God, so come with confidence to the throne of grace. Be still and know that I am God. My presence goes with you and I give you rest.
You are My workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works that I prepared ahead of time. Walk by the Spirit. Let the peace of Christ rule in your heart. I keep you in perfect peace as your mind is stayed on Me. I began a good work in you and I complete it. Today, listen, trust, and walk with Me.

Real-Life Analogy
Think of a phone on a wireless charger. Set it down on the pad, and the connection supplies what the phone needs without fuss. When I pause and set my attention on the Lord, the indwelling Spirit supplies what the moment actually calls for, patience in a long line, clarity in a decision, kindness in a tense exchange. The charge does not come from strain. It comes from staying in contact.
Try this today. Before you open an email that usually spikes your stress, take ten quiet seconds and say, Lord, I trust You to live Your life in me and through me as I answer this. Then write with a calm tone, honest words, and a readiness to bless, as you trust the Lord to respond through you.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that Jesus invites me to step aside with Him and rest. Thank You that Your Spirit lives in me and that Your peace stands guard over my heart. I receive this day as a place to walk with You, not in hurry, but in trust. Lord, I trust You to live Your life in me and through me in this moment.
