Christ Walking Out of Death

Christ didn’t break out of death — He walked out. Now, every door opens to the presence of Resurrection Life.

Today’s devotional by Witness Lee paints a bold and beautiful picture of Christ’s resurrection—not as a dramatic rescue but as a walk through and out of death’s prison. It connects the release of Joseph from the dungeon with the resurrection of Jesus, not as one being delivered by others, but as One who entered the prison of death voluntarily—and walked out in divine authority.

Jesus wasn’t seized by death against His will. He entered it freely, as One completely submitted to the Father’s purpose. Yet death’s prison was no match for Him. As Acts 2:24 says, it was impossible for death to hold Him. Why? Because Christ is resurrection. Resurrection is not just something He does—it’s who He is.

This entry reminds us that death tried its best to imprison Him, but it had no authority over the Author of life. The authority of darkness attempted to chain Him—but resurrection life cannot be shackled. And now, His walk out of death has become our resurrection life. We no longer live under the dominion of death. We live in Him—the One who has already walked out, leaving the door wide open behind Him.

Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

You are no longer among the dead, for you are in Me, and I walked out of death. I laid down My life willingly and entered the grave not by force but by love. The pangs of death rose up with fury, but they could not bind Me, for I am the Resurrection and the Life. Death could not hold Me because its power cannot overcome the One who conquered it by rising through it.

In Me, you were buried; and in Me, you were raised. You are not in Adam’s tomb. You are seated with Me in heavenly places. I was delivered over for your trespasses and raised for your justification. Therefore, consider yourself alive to God in Me, and dead to sin. You are united with Me in the likeness of My death and now walk in newness of life in the likeness of My resurrection.

Death may still surround the world, but you are not of the world. You are Mine. Just as I walked out of the prison of death, so you too walk—free, holy, new, and radiant with My life. You carry the fragrance of resurrection wherever you go. Let your mind dwell on things above, where you are hidden with Me in God.

Real-Life Analogy

You’ve probably seen automatic sliding doors at the grocery store. As long as you stand in front of them, they stay shut. But the moment you walk forward, they open—not because you forced them, but because they’re designed to respond to presence. Now imagine the resurrection life of Christ like that. He didn't have to force His way out of death; death had to release Him because of who He was. And now, when you walk in Him, every prison of fear, shame, or defeat must give way—not because you are powerful, but because He is present in you. The door opens to the One it cannot resist.

Prayer of Confidence

Father, I thank You that I no longer live under the rule of death. Because Christ walked out of that tomb, I now live with His resurrection life coursing through me. I stand in the confidence that nothing can imprison what You have already made free. I rejoice that I don’t have to escape darkness—I walk in the light. Thank You that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in me, and I now walk forward in joy, in rest, and in the power of a life that can never die.
