In this closing reflection on Matthew 1:1, Witness Lee draws out the immense significance of Jesus being called both the Son of David and the Son of Abraham. As the Son of David, He fulfills God’s promise to build a lasting temple—His church, the dwelling place of God. As the Son of Abraham, He fulfills the promise of blessing to all nations—not merely through lineage or geography, but through the gift of the Holy Spirit, the fullness of the Triune God, offered to both Jew and Gentile alike.
Christ, the true Solomon and the true Isaac, has already offered Himself in death, been raised in victory, and now continues to build the house of God while preparing to receive His Bride. The wisdom He speaks, the blessings He bestows, the redemption He has accomplished, and the life He shares—all flow from His dual identity: royal heir and promise bearer. Were He only the Son of David, He would belong exclusively to the Jews. But as the Son of Abraham, He is the blessing for all peoples.
This devotional by Witness Lee beautifully traces the full redemptive arc—from promise to fulfillment—in Christ, who grants us the Spirit that is the very life and presence of the Triune God. In Him, we do not just receive blessings—we are brought into participation with God Himself.
Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I am the Christ, the Son of David and the Son of Abraham. I came to fulfill the promises spoken through the generations—to the fathers of Israel and to all the nations of the earth. In Me, the wisdom of Solomon walks again, greater than before. In Me, the offering of Isaac becomes complete, for I laid down My life and took it up again.
I am building My Father’s house, not of stone, but of living hearts drawn together into one Body. I am preparing a Bride for Myself—radiant, holy, and filled with My Spirit. The blessings I bring are not measured by possessions or protection, but by union—by your shared life with Me and in Me.
You are no longer outsiders to the covenant, for you are in Me—the true Seed of Abraham. All the blessings of heaven are yours in the Spirit I have given you. This Spirit is not a portion of God, but the very life of the Triune God dwelling in you. I have made you part of the divine fellowship.
Do not wonder if you are included. As the Son of Abraham, I came for you. As the Seed in whom the promise lives, I brought you near. You are now part of the house I am building. You are Mine, and I am yours.

Real-Life Analogy
It’s like walking into a home you were told belonged to someone else—only to find your name on the deed. At first, you’re hesitant, thinking surely this place is reserved for someone more deserving. But then the owner hands you the keys and smiles. "I built this for you. I’ve been waiting for you to come home." That’s what it’s like to discover that Jesus isn’t just the Son of David for Israel—He is the Son of Abraham, for you.
Prayer of Confidence
Lord Jesus, how grateful I am that You are not only the rightful King of Israel, but also the promised blessing to all the nations—including me. I rejoice that through You, the Son of Abraham, I have been brought near and made a partaker of the very life of God. I rest in the Spirit You have already given me, knowing I don’t need to strive for a connection that’s already mine. Thank You for building me into Your house, for preparing me as part of Your Bride, and for including me in the eternal joy of Your fellowship. I live today in that blessing.
