Breath and Wind: You’re Already Equipped

Today’s devotional from Witness Lee reminds us that just as the crucifixion of Christ is an accomplished fact, so too are the breathing and blowing of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus breathed on the disciples in John 20, He imparted His very life—this was not a promise to wait for, but a reality to receive. Then, in Acts 2, the Spirit came like a rushing wind, empowering them outwardly. According to Lee, one brought inner vitality, the other outward authority.

Lee writes these two events are not separate gifts we must chase after or work toward—they are facts to be believed, appropriated, and trusted. Christ has already given His indwelling life for our inner walk and His empowering presence for our outward witness. Our response is not to ask for what has already been given, but to trust the report of Scripture and walk in it.

When we don’t “feel” this life or power, our confidence doesn’t rest on our perception—it rests on God’s Word. Just as we believe the crucifixion without seeing it, we believe we have received the Holy Spirit in fullness because the Bible declares it so. Whether in weakness or boldness, quietness or courage, we are already indwelt and empowered.

All that remains is to walk forward—not waiting for another Pentecost, but trusting the One who has already come. The breath is in us. The wind is behind us. We are equipped for every good work, because Christ Himself is our supply.

Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture

My beloved, do not look for Me in distant promises—I have already come to dwell within you. I have breathed My very life into you, and I have clothed you with power from on high. You are not waiting for Me; you are walking with Me. I am in you for life, and upon you for purpose.

Let your soul be anchored in this truth: you are not lacking. I have equipped you with what is needed for this moment and the next. When you feel timid, My life remains your courage. When you feel weak, My presence is not diminished. The breath I gave is not a breeze that fades—it is My very Spirit, indwelling and unceasing.

You don’t need to feel power to be empowered. You don’t need to sense strength to walk in it. The Word says I live in you, so trust the Word. Live not by sensation, but by certainty. I have already given you all that pertains to life and godliness. So go ahead—respond in love, speak with grace, serve with joy, rest with assurance. I am the wind behind you and the breath within you. Walk in what is already yours.

(Scripture references: John 20:22; Acts 2:1–4; Romans 8:9–11; 2 Peter 1:3; Galatians 2:20; 2 Corinthians 3:5–6; Ephesians 3:16; Colossians 1:27–29)

Real-Life Analogy

It’s like turning the ignition of a car that’s already been fully fueled and wired—the engine doesn’t require more gasoline or another mechanic. It only requires the key to trust what’s already been built. The driver doesn’t need to analyze the circuits or re-earn the vehicle; he just turns the key and drives, resting in the truth that it works.

So today, you don’t need to search for a new supply of power or life. Instead, yield and trust that Christ already dwells in you and is ready to move through you. When your words are needed at work or your patience is tested at home, simply acknowledge His presence and trust: “Lord, I yield this moment to You—I trust You to express Your life in me and through me.”

Prayer of Confidence

Jesus, I thank You that I am not waiting for another breath or wind. You have already breathed Your life into me, and You have already clothed me with Your Spirit’s power. I am not lacking, because You are not absent. I choose to believe what You’ve said, even when I do not feel it. Today, I trust that You are my supply. I walk in Your fullness—empowered, indwelt, and never alone. Amen.
