Breath and Garden: Thoughts in a Season of Change
When the Holy Spirit breathes on one bed, the Gardener still owns the whole garden.
A holy tug
Regarding Rooted in Christ’s YouTube ministry, I sense the Lord breathing on Songs of the Soul. It comes with wind and fire, focus and clarity. Peace settles in, not pressure. Tears come easily, because Presence is near. This is not hype. This is the Holy Spirit’s kindness drawing me into a living assignment.
At the same time, I carry other series, other promises, other people. The question rises: Do I press fully into this, or hold everything in perfect balance? The answer lives in a better picture.
1) Honor the breath, steward the garden
When the Holy Spirit breathes on something, let it move. The early church moved when the wind came. “They were all filled with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:4. When the Lord stirred Philip, he ran to a chariot in the desert. Acts 8:26–30. When the Spirit said, “Set apart Barnabas and Saul,” the church released them. Acts 13:2–3. Obedience loves the living Voice.
Inspiration is like rain. It waters one corner of the garden at a time, yet I still own the whole garden. Stewardship means tending the other beds just enough so they don’t wither while this one blooms.
Scriptures to carry:
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord.” Colossians 3:23.
“It is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:2.
“The wind blows where it wishes… so it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” John 3:8.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your breath on this work. Teach me to welcome the wind and tend the rest. Give me the mind of a steward and the heart of a worshiper.
2) Discern season from direction
Not every spark is a new map. Sometimes the Spirit gives a seasonal assignment, not a permanent redirect. Songs of the Soul may be that—a focused, heartfelt season where Jesus wants to minister through memory, music, and mercy.
Paul had seasons of travel, then seasons of staying in one place to strengthen a church. Acts 18:11; Acts 19:10. Jesus Himself moved by times and places. “My time has not yet come.” John 7:6.
A season carries peace, not haste. It carries desire, not escape. It carries clarity, not compulsion. When the season changes, I will know. The next series will return with deeper roots because of what this one taught me.
Scriptures to carry:
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1.
“A man’s steps are established by the Lord when he delights in His way.” Psalm 37:23.
“Since we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25.
Prayer: Lord, mark my steps with peace. Let me recognize seasons by their fruit, not my fears. Keep me in step with You.
3) Listen for fruit, not only for flow
Inspiration is thrilling, but fruit confirms calling. Jesus said, “By their fruit you will recognize them.” Matthew 7:16.
So I ask myself three questions as I go:
Do I sense greater peace, not pressure? “The peace of God will guard your hearts.” Philippians 4:7.
Is my union with Christ deepening, not just my productivity? “Abide in Me, and I in you.” John 15:4–5.
Are people being drawn to Him, not to novelty? “He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30.
If the answers are yes, I trust I’m where I should be. The Spirit is confirming the work. Many of us can already answer yes with tears. The Presence I sensed while reading the Piece of My Heart and Bullet the Blue Sky scripts, the joy and anticipation that rose in me, the witness in my spirit—these are not small things. They are signs of alignment.
Scriptures to carry:
“The kingdom of God is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:17.
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…” Galatians 5:22–23.
“We proclaim Him… to present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all His energy that He powerfully works within me.” Colossians 1:28–29.
Prayer: Lord, grow Your fruit in me as I serve. Keep me from the trap of outcome-chasing. Let peace, joy, and love mark this season.
4) Hold everything loosely, like a song
I think of my four series as instruments in one symphony. The Holy Spirit is the conductor. Sometimes one instrument carries a solo while the others wait in quiet readiness. The waiting is not waste. It is part of the music.
David learned quiet before he led songs for nations. “I have calmed and quieted my soul.” Psalm 131:2. Mary pondered before she spoke. Luke 2:19. Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to pray. Luke 5:16.
To hold loosely doesn’t mean to care less; it means to trust more. It means believing that the Lord knows how to re-enter themes at the right moment. When the cue comes, the resting instruments will lift their voices again, and the whole house will hear a deeper harmony.
Scriptures to carry:
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.” Psalm 37:5.
“Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time He may exalt you.” 1 Peter 5:6–7.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10.
Prayer: Lord, teach me the music of Your timing. Make me patient without growing passive, ready without becoming restless.
Gentle practices for this season
Name the focus. In my descriptions and community posts, I will say simply: “For a season I am focusing on Songs of the Soul.” Clarity comforts people.
Tend the resting beds. Light maintenance on artwork, playlists, and pinned comments. It signals stewardship.
Keep a listening journal. Capture lines, Scriptures, and viewer testimonies. Review them weekly. Watch for patterns the Holy Spirit emphasizes.
Rest before I release. Sit with each script until peace deepens. Release from rest, not from hurry.
Pray for specific fruit. Ask the Lord to meet the weary, steady the anxious, and bring prodigals home through this series.
A word of witness
I was deeply moved in my spirit when I reread the Piece of my Heart and Bullet the Blue Sky scripts. I believe Christ’s presence met me. Peace rose. Union deepened. Anticipation awakened. It had the sound of the Shepherd’s voice. “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27.
When the Spirit confirms with tears and quiet joy, I will follow. He is not only authoring a series. He is shepherding my heart.
A simple consecration
Lord Jesus, this work is Yours. Breathe where You will.
I consent to Your timing, Your focus, and Your fruit.
Keep my heart soft and my hands steady.
Let Songs of the Soul carry Your compassion into wounded places,
and let the resting series wait in Your light, ready for their next note.
Let Your life within be the river, and my heart the channel.
Amen.
