E. Stanley Jones draws our attention to the miracle of the new birth, placing it alongside the creation of the universe and the incarnation of Christ. These three—creation, incarnation, and regeneration—stand as the great divine interventions in human history. The miracle of being made new in Christ isn't just a spiritual upgrade—it’s a radical transformation, a divine act that can’t be explained apart from God’s intervention.
When the Bible says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17), it doesn’t mean we are improved versions of our old selves. It means something entirely new has come into being. Just as the earth at creation was formless and void, so the unregenerate soul is without shape, without meaning, and filled with emptiness—even when surrounded by the noise and novelty of modern life. Jones points out that this internal emptiness often hides beneath a surface of busyness and progress. The tragedy of outer activity masking inner emptiness is something we see all around us.
But the new creation reality isn’t conceptual—it’s experiential. To be in Christ is to have divine life where there was once only emptiness and confusion. This is not a temporary emotional lift or behavior change—it is God creating new life from within. The Christian life, then, is not about becoming better—it’s about living from the new creation we already are. And that changes everything.
📓 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit
You are not who you were, beloved. That old identity, tied to Adam and tangled in fear, is no longer your source. You have been made new—not by your striving, nor by your promises, but by My Spirit through the finished work of the Son. You are a new creation because you are in Christ, and Christ is in you.
The emptiness that once marked your soul has been replaced by My fullness. No longer formless, you are shaped by My love. No longer void, you are filled with My indwelling presence. Where confusion once reigned, My peace now rules. Where chaos once drove your decisions, My wisdom now guides your steps.
I do not patch up your old life. I give you Mine. The miracle of your new birth is not a distant event but a living reality—daily, moment by moment, as you abide in Me. Yield to Me today, not in fear but in faith, trusting that My life in you is enough. I will express My purposes through you—not by might or power, but by My life flowing in and through your surrendered soul.
Walk as one born of divine breath. Live not from memory, but from identity—yours in Christ, sealed, secure, and shining with the light of resurrection life.

🌿 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like opening the door of a stale, dusty room that’s been closed for years. The moment fresh air rushes in, something shifts. The air changes. The feeling changes. What was stagnant is now breathable, full of life. That’s what new creation life is like—it’s not redecorating the old room; it’s opening it to a completely different atmosphere.
Today, you might face moments where your old thoughts or habits try to cloud your view. But instead of wrestling with them on your own, pause and say: “Lord, I trust You to think through me, speak through me, and live Your life through me in this moment.” Maybe it’s during an overwhelming conversation, or in a decision that used to bring fear—watch how His life in you changes the air.
🙏 Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You that I am not who I was. You didn’t just clean up my life—you gave me a new one in Christ. Thank You for the miracle of being born again, for shaping order where there was once chaos, and for filling the void with Your very presence. I walk today as one made new—resting in the finished work of Jesus, and responding in faith to the life of Christ in me. I lack nothing because I have You.
