Already Home in Him
Our life is already hidden with Jesus in God, secure and at home in the heavenly places.

Miles Stanford reminds us today of a truth that reshapes how we live on earth. Many believers, he writes, are content with the assurance that one day they will go to heaven when they die. Yet the mature believer learns to rest in the fact that in Jesus, they are already there. Scripture declares that God has raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly places. This is not simply a future hope, but a present reality.
J.B. Stoney’s reflections, quoted in the devotional, help us see that our affections are meant to be centered where Jesus is. On earth, we often look at ourselves and despair that we are unworthy. Yet grace reveals that we are already suited for His presence because we are joined to Him. The believer who lives with eyes fixed on heaven is not weighed down by the desolation of earth, nor confused by the trials of life. Their life tastes of glory now because their affections are set above.
Stanford highlights that our growth in Christ flows out of occupation with Him where He is. The law once repelled, but now His glory draws us in. Our new nature is being nurtured by association with the Son of Man, the most beautiful and perfect One. This transforms us, slowly but surely, into His likeness. The more we live in conscious fellowship with Him in heaven, the more His life is manifested here on earth.
The devotional leaves us with a piercing invitation. Will we set our minds on earthly struggles, or will we lift our gaze to where our true life is hidden with Jesus in God? The difference between stagnation and growth lies in this very choice. To live as though heaven is only future leaves us striving. To live from the truth that we are already home in Him brings rest, joy, and transformation.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
My child, your life is not bound to this earth. I have raised you up with My Son and seated you with Him in the heavenly places. Do not live as though you are still striving to enter, for in Him you are already there. Your life is hidden with Christ in Me.
Set your mind on things above, not on the things that press in around you. When you face hardship, remember that it is not your final reality. Your true home is where My Son is, and in Him you are secure. Do not be conformed to the despair of this world. Instead, be transformed as you behold His glory, for in seeing Him, you are changed into His likeness.
I call you to rest in your position in heaven, even while you walk on earth. In Jesus you are complete, beloved, and at home. Let this truth shape your steps, your thoughts, and your affections. As you yield to Me, the life of My Son will shine through you, revealing that your citizenship is in heaven, and your hope is already realized in Him.

Real-Life Analogy
Think of a person who has already moved into a new house but occasionally drives by their old apartment. They may look in the window, remember the space, even imagine themselves still living there. But the truth is, their belongings, their rest, and their life are in the new home. In the same way, believers sometimes live as though earth is their dwelling, while their true home is already in heaven with Jesus.
Today, when I feel overwhelmed by the brokenness of this world, I can pause and say, “Lord, I trust You to live Your life through me as one who is already seated with You in heaven.” This changes how I walk through trials, not with despair, but with the assurance that I am at home in Him even now.
Prayer of Confidence
Lord, I thank You that I am already seated with You in the heavenly places. My life is hidden with Jesus in You, and nothing on earth can change that reality. I rejoice that I belong not to fear or striving, but to rest and security in Your presence. Thank You for drawing my affections upward to where my true home is. Today I walk in confidence that I am already complete in You.
