After the Yes
The Yes of God is like light flooding in after a long winter.

Today’s reflection immerses us in the radiant truth of 2 Corinthians 1:20: “For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him.” E. Stanley Jones invites us to see Jesus not merely as the one who fulfills God’s promises, but as the Yes to every single one of them. Whether the promise is written in nature, inscribed in Scripture, buried in the longings of our soul, or evident in the upward pull of God upon our hearts, Christ is the personal “Yes” of God to it all.
Jones gives us the example of a man who, after receiving Christ, began referring to himself as “After”—because everything had changed. “After” meant life after sin, after sorrow, after frustration, after alienation. In Christ, there is always an after—an onward, upward direction. Life begins anew in Him, with hope infused into every moment.
The devotional also recounts the story of a young man whose “Yes” to a God-given dream overcame every “No” spoken by others. His personal surrender birthed a home for the poor, a hospital for the hurting, and a legacy that death could not silence. He and his sister became living echoes of God’s great “Yes” to humanity—Jesus expressed through surrendered lives.
✍🏼 Personalized Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I am the Yes. Every longing you’ve ever had for peace, for purpose, for belonging—I have fulfilled in Myself. The ache of sin has found its answer in My cross, and the emptiness of your striving finds rest in My resurrection life. There is no promise I have made that remains unanswered, for in Me the fullness of God’s heart is revealed and released.
The world will echo with Nos. Limitations, impossibilities, and fears will parade themselves before you. But I call you upward—out of decay and into glory. What the flesh cannot accomplish, My Spirit manifests. What others resist, I empower. I call you not to impress Me but to trust Me. When you say Yes to Me, you step into My Yes to you—a covenant sealed with My blood.
Your “After” begins now. After sorrow, I bring joy. After confusion, clarity. After shame, righteousness. I take what is broken and declare it whole. I do not consult your past before speaking your future. I am your future. And it is filled with hope.
You are not a victim of history—you are a vessel of promise. Say Yes. Not in strength, but in surrender. Not with fear, but with joy. My promises are not theory—they are to be lived and experienced in your day-to-day life. Come, and receive them in My name.

🪟 Real-Life Analogy
It’s like opening a window after a long winter. The stale air is pushed out by a fresh breeze. The sunlight stretches into forgotten corners. That first deep breath feels like life itself returning. That’s what My “Yes” does—it throws open the window of your soul and fills you with what you didn’t even know you were missing.
🙏🏼 Prayer of Confidence
Jesus, I thank You that You are God’s Yes to me. I rest in the certainty that every promise from the Father finds its fulfillment in You. No matter how many Nos I hear from the world, Your Yes prevails. Thank You that I don’t have to make things happen—I simply need to walk in Your finished work. I rejoice in my “After”—after sin, after striving, after sorrow—because in You, I now live in promise. I am Yours, and You are enough.
