Access Without Fear
In Jesus, the door to God’s presence and resources stands wide open, turning panic into possibility.

E. Stanley Jones turns our attention to a truth so rich that we often take it for granted. In Jesus we have boldness and confidence of access to God. Paul’s words in Ephesians 3:12 tell us that through our union with Him, the way is always open. We are never shut out, never left to grope in darkness, and never dependent upon ourselves. Outside of Jesus, access is closed. Modern psychiatry may suggest that man is alone in a morally indifferent universe, and the best he can do is face that emptiness without panic. But that is a bleak prison, with man locked inside his own powers.
Jones contrasts that hopeless outlook with the glory of the gospel. In Jesus the doors swing wide. We are not left in despair, but invited into fellowship. We do not have to resign ourselves to solitude, but can walk into reconciliation. We do not settle for misery, but enter into mastery, not of ourselves, but of life in union with God. The very possibility of access turns panic into peace, fear into confidence, and despair into living hope.
The message is clear. Life without Jesus leads inward into a dungeon of isolation and nothingness. Life in Him leads outward into freedom, forgiveness, and fullness. In Him there is an open door, and through that door is every resource of God available to us. We live not in lack, but in plenty. Not in panic, but in possibility. This is the privilege that Jones so lovingly points us to: the reality that every believer has complete and unshakable access to God’s presence and resources in Jesus Christ.
As Jones reminds us, this access is not abstract. It is the day-to-day reality that lifts us from fear into faith, from anxiety into assurance, and from self-effort into Spirit-filled living. It is a daily stepping into the possibilities of God that transforms ordinary life into an unfolding adventure of grace.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
My child, you are not shut out from Me. In Jesus, you have access into My presence at every moment. Do not think of yourself as one standing outside trying to get in, for you are already brought near by His blood. The way has been opened, and no one can close it.
I have given you confidence, not based on your worthiness, but on His finished work. In Him you may come boldly, knowing that you are loved and welcomed. You need not panic when life presses in, for you belong to possibility, not to fear. My Spirit dwells within you as the guarantee that every resource of heaven is already yours in Christ Jesus.
When you face loneliness, remember that you are never alone, for I am with you. When you face temptation, remember that you have died to sin and are alive in Me. When you feel empty, remember that all the fullness of God dwells in Him, and you are complete in Him. Every wall has been broken down. Every barrier removed. You live in freedom, in fellowship, and in fullness.

Real-Life Analogy
Picture standing at a locked door with a heavy keyring in your hand. You fumble through each key, trying one after another, only to find none of them fit. Frustration builds as the door remains closed. Now imagine someone walks up and pushes the door gently, and it swings wide open. The whole time you thought you needed the right key, when in fact the way was never locked against you. That is what access in Jesus is like. We strive, search, and panic, but in Him, the way is already open.
Today, when I encounter a situation that feels like a locked door, I can quietly rest and say, “Lord, I trust You to live Your life through me in this moment, knowing the way is already open.” That turns panic into peace, and impossibility into living possibility.
Prayer of Confidence
Lord, I thank You that in Jesus I have boldness and confidence of access. I am never shut out, never left to myself, and never without Your resources. I rejoice that I belong not to panic, but to possibility, for in You every door is open. I rest in Your presence today with gratitude, knowing that in union with Jesus, I have all I need for every moment.
