Ephesians 2:7 says that in the coming ages God will display the surpassing riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. That is not distant theory. It is a promise that reaches into today and steadies our steps. A. B. Simpson invites us to see our present lessons as preparation for a future that is far weightier with glory than we can yet imagine. Thank you, Dr. Simpson, for stirring our hope and lifting our eyes to what God has already purposed in His Son.
Early on, many of us measured growth by what we could accomplish for God. Over time, Scripture brings us into something better, a life sourced in Jesus, where doing flows from being. The Holy Spirit anchors this shift. He makes the kindness of the Father real in ordinary minutes. He does not polish the old life. He reveals the new life we share with the risen Lord.
Simpson’s picture of the School of Faith is not about earning a diploma. It is about learning to rely on the indwelling Spirit in pressures, disappointments, and quiet duties. These are not wasted hours. They are training that fits us for what is to come. The Lord is not simply getting us through. He is forming us to reign with Jesus in a creation made new.
So we keep company with Jesus in the present. We receive the day as the workshop of grace. We choose honesty, love, and trust. We depend on His life within rather than straining to produce what only He can supply. The promise stands firm, He seats us with Christ, He will display His grace in ages to come, and He is already expressing that grace in us now.
Journal Entry – Voice of the Holy Spirit Through Scripture
I set your hope on what I have already secured in My Son. I raised you up with Him and seated you with Him in the heavenly places. I open the eyes of your heart to know the hope of My calling, the riches of the glory of My inheritance in the saints, and the immeasurable greatness of My power toward you who believe. I strengthen you with power in your inner being so that the life of Jesus is expressed through your body.
Your trials are light and momentary when weighed against the eternal weight of glory I am preparing. Fix your gaze on the things above where the Messiah is seated at My right hand. You died, and your life is hidden with Him in Me. As you abide in Him, you bear fruit that remains. I work in you to will and to do My good pleasure. Present yourself to Me, alive from the dead, and the members of your body as instruments of righteousness. I complete what I begin, and I conform you to the image of My Son.
I am forming a people, fitted together as a dwelling place for My presence. From Christ the Head, the whole body grows and builds itself up in love as each part does its work. Christ in you is the hope of glory. I grant you endurance and patience with joy. I keep you by My power for the salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Hold fast with confidence. To the one who overcomes, I grant to sit with My Son on His throne, even as He overcame and sat down with Me.
Real-Life Analogy
Think of dough resting on a kitchen counter. You measure, mix, and knead, then you set it in a warm place. You do not pry it open to speed the rise. Heat and time do what only they can do, and the dough becomes something it was not before, ready for the oven, fragrant and nourishing at the end. That is how the Holy Spirit works within those who belong to Jesus. You show up. You stay available. He brings quiet rise and real change from the inside.
A simple application, during a project you have delayed, open your laptop, place your hands on the keys, and say, Lord, I entrust this task to You, express Your steadiness and clarity through me as I begin. Then take the first small step. Let the Spirit carry the work forward. He knows how to turn raw ingredients into daily bread for others through you.
Prayer of Confidence
Father, thank You for Your kindness in Jesus. Thank You that I am raised with Him and seated with Him. You have given me every spiritual blessing in Christ. Today I receive this hour as part of Your School of Faith. I reckon myself alive to You, and I depend on Your Spirit to express the life of Jesus in my words, my choices, and my work. Your grace is sufficient, Your power is active within, and Your purpose is sure. I rest in what You have already provided, and I walk forward with gratitude.
